Actor cum Politician Jatin Bora quits BJP in protest against CAA 2019

GUWAHATI: Popular actor-turned politician Jatin Bora resigned from the BJP on Thursday in protest against the party’s stand on the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). The actor is the chairman of the Assam State Film Finance & Development Corporation Ltd.

Taking part at the meeting called by the AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) and the artiste fraternity at Latasil Playground here on Thursday, the actor made his resignation public. “I will be with the people of the State who don’t accept the CAB. I thought the Centre would take a decision on the cancellation of CAB on Wednesday. However, instead of taking any such decision, the government passed the anti-Assam Bill. To be with the people of the State, I’ve resigned from the BJP,” he said.
