Alarming rise of corona positive cases in Kamrup (M) district

GUWAHATI: Corona positive cases are on the rise in Kamrup (M) district, so are the number of quarantine zones. The number of police personnel testing corona positive on Sunday seems to have posed a threat to the denizens of the city as the men in uniform are ones who have to deal with a whole lot of people.

Till the time of filing of this report, as many as 73 people tested corona positive in the district on Sunday alone. The figure may go up if more results of tests are declared later. A havildar of Panbazar Police Station, Pushparani Das tested corona positive on Sunday. Two constables – Herambo Kalita and Sahidul Islam Talukdar and home guard Dandi Kumar – of Panbazar traffic branch also tested corona positive on Sunday.

Apart from them, as many as seven people tested corona positive in the Maligaon area on Sunday. Their swab samples were collected on June 16. A woman, Lakshmi Das of Colony 4 in the Pandu area died in the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College and Hospital) on Sunday. She was admitted to the hospital for fever. Her corona infection was confirmed after her death. The Principal Chief Commercial Manager of NF Railway, Aneet Dulat and his son Ajay Dulat also tested corona positive on Sunday.

Till the time of filing of this report, Kamrup (M) has a total of 552 corona positive cases. The number of containment zones in the district till Saturday night was 178, and 141 them are active ones.
