GUWAHATI: The All Assam Law Students' Association (AALSA) has urged the UGC (University Grants Commission) to take a suitable and alternative decision on examinations of all intermediate and terminal semester/final year students of law.

In a memorandum sent to the UGC, the AALSA said, "The UGC has said in the newly revised guidelines that terminal semester/final year students need to appear for the examinations and the students of terminal semester/final year having backlog should also appear for the examinations, which is impossible for the students at the present situation."

The AALSA said, "… the examination can't be more important than the life of a student." AALSA president Kishore Kalita said, "The students are not mentally ready to appear in the examinations because of the pandemic. This apart, many students of Assam have been reeling under floods. We, on behalf of the AALSA, request the UGC to look into the matter and change the guidelines in favour of a rational decision for the future of the students."
