Ambubachi Fair: Increase In Crowds At Guwahati City Temples

GUWAHATI: With the increasing inflow of devotees in the city due to the grand Ambubachi fair, other prominent temples of the city are also thronged with an increased number of visitors. Crowds can be seen outside Umananda temple and the temple’s committee members informed that there are about 5000 to 7000 devotees each day. As such, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) teams have been deployed and security tightened. Also, special ferries have been arranged by Inland Water Transport (IWT) along with extra life jackets. A similar situation can also be observed at Basistha temple as devotees queue outside the temple gates.
