APCC stages protest, submits memo to President

GUWAHATI, June 6: In protest against the constant price hike and the anti-people policies adopted by the BJP led Centre and the State regime, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday took out a demonstration rally across the state. Led by the Guwahati City District Congress Committee (GCDCC), the opposition party also staged a protest near Meghdoot Bhawan in the city and submitted a memorandum to the President of India and to the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of the Kamrup (M) district.

BJP terms protest rally a drama

Reacting to the opposition’s state wide protest, State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami termed the protest a staged drama. Hitting back at the Congress, he said that in 2012 and 2013 the Congress also hiked the petrol prices up to Rs 83.62. Goswami alleged that the Congress regime was gripped with widespread corruption which created hindrance to development. He said that now the opposition is frustrated and zealous of the all round development intensified by the BJP led NDA government.
