Arecanut worth Rs 2.76 crore seized at Nine Mile, Khanapara

GUWAHATI: Custom sleuths seized 72 MT of arecanut of foreign origin along with three carrier trucks at Nine Mile, Khanapara here on Saturday. The arecanut is worth Rs 2.76 crore.

The seized goods were being transported from Kalain in Cachar and Aizawl to West Bengal. It is suspected that the goods were being smuggled from Myanmar through the Indo-Myanmar border in Mizoram. Three persons were apprehended in connection with the case.
