ARPSS submits memo to CM, demands removal of anomalies

Guwahati, June 7: Having already raised its voice against the report submitted by the Anomalies Committee which was entrusted with the task of making correction in the anomalies in the 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission, the Asom Rajyik Prathimik Sikshak Sanmilani has sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding that he should intervene in the matter within June 10 in the interest of the primary teachers. Alleging that the primary teachers are being deprived of their legitimate benefits, the Sanmilani has asserted that if the CM does not take any initiative to make the amends, the teachers will be forced to take to the streets for which they could not be blamed.

It may be recalled that the report of the Anomalies Committee was made public on June 5 by Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. It is alleged that the report has brought about division among the lower primary and upper primary teachers.

The Sanmilini further alleges that the 7th Assam Pay and Productivity Pay Commission has provided for grade pay of Rs 8700 but the same has been reduced to Rs 7400 by the Anomalies ommittee. The report of the Committee has also allegedly deprived the headmasters of the primary schools of their legitimate dues.

The result being that the primary teachers are a disappointed lot and the adverse impact has also hit the interest of the students. This was revealed to the media by the secretary of the Sanmilani Ratul Chandra Goswami.

Goswami further informed that the Sanmilani executive body meeting will be held on June 10 and if the CM does not intervene and remove the anomalies, the organization will chalk out the next course of agitation.
