Asmakam Foundation to hold Night Marathon in Guwahati on March 1, 2020

GUWAHATI: Asmakam Foundation is going to hold India’s only night Marathon on March 1, 2020. The Foundation is a not-for-profit social service organization that promotes healthy living.

In a press release, Foundation’s president Partha Sarathi Mahanta said that the Marathon will be flagged off from the Veterinary College Field at Khanapara at 5.30 pm. Athletes, including veteran and well-known marathoners, from India and abroad, will participate in the event. Bollywood star Yami Gautam will be flagging off the event along with Arjun Bhogeswar Barua and veteran football player Bhaichung Bhutia, the release said.

The event has been categorized into the full 42.2-kilometer run, half marathon of 21.1 km, and 10 km as well as 5 km (also for under-18). There will also be an easy 3-kilometer walkathon, besides attractive cash prizes for all categories, except for the walkathon. This event, according to a press release, will become a permanent fixture in the sports calendar of Guwahati and will be held on the last Sunday of February or the first Sunday of March every year.
