Asom Shikshak Karmachari Oikya Mancha to form new committee today

GUWAHATI: The Asom Shikshak Karmachari Oikya Mancha (ASKOM) will hold its state convention at Changsari on Sunday, when it will form its new central executive committee.

According to a member of ASKOM, the state has around 2,500 venture educational institutes — primary schools to degree colleges. "The State Government bothers the least for the solution of such venture institutes, including their provincialization. Though the government provincialized various institutions from 2013-2021, it fell short of provincializing around 4,000 drop posts. In the 4,227 institutions provincialized in 2021, the government kept the teachers working there as tutors. We demand the promotion of 16,000 tutors working in these institutions as teachers. The convention will discuss such crucial issues. We may take to agitation to press for our demands," he said.
