Assam Government Responsible For Flawed NRC: AJYCP

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The AJYCP (Asom Jatityatabdi Yuva Chhatra Parishad) condemned the government and NRC workers and held them responsible for the inclusion of illegal immigrants in the final NRC. The parishad said that NRC procedures were concluded under the supervision of the Supreme Court but the employees of Assam government were carrying out the NRC proceedings. To find a concrete solution to the illegal immigrants' crisis in the State, the government failed to implement tangible measures which was finally completed under the Supreme Court supervision. The parishad further stated that the people of Assam expected a foreigner-free Assam, however, after almost Rs 1600 crore was spent, the final draft was not as expected. The people of the State expected more illegal immigrants to be exposed but instead, many Indian names failed to make the list. For this, the parishad held the State government and the NRC authorities responsible for the flaw in the final draft.
