The fact that Assam ranks first in the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report on criminal cases against women for the fifth time in a row has exposed how vulnerable women are in Assam right now. Unfortunately, Assam, which has been at the top of crimes against women in the country, has a crime rate of against women last year at 168.3. This figure has increased by almost 50 per cent in the last five years. The rate was seen to have gone down before 2015 instead of around 120 in 2017.
