Assam Gramin Vikas Bank inks MoU to provide better rural health insurance

GUWAHATI: With the objective to secure health of its customers through insurance, Assam Gramin Vikas Bank (AGVB), the largest regional rural bank of North Eastern region signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one of the premier health insurer in the country, Care Health Insurance Ltd. (CHIL) on Friday.

The customers of AGVB will now be able to avail health insurance for themselves and their families at a minimal premium. On behalf of the bank, the MoU was signed by general manager Manoj Kr. Das while CHIIL was represented by its business head of rural and government business Atul Sabharwal.

One of the flagship products of CHIL, 'Group Care 360 – Grameen' will now be available across 473 branches of the AGVB and will provide coverage to the entire family at a low premium. The first variant of the product envisages an annual premium of Rs 1,100 only to cover a family of four persons. Cashless hospitalization facility shall be available to the policy holders in more than 200 hospitals across the State.

Speaking on the occasion, AGVB chairman Upendra Sarkar said the bank being the largest bank in the State in terms of branch network and customer base, the MoU with CHIL will definitely go a long way in insuring health of people of Assam. He urged upon the customers of the bank to take the benefits of this low cost insurance product to secure better health care. Nirendra Kumar, deputy general manager and circle head of Punjab National Bank, Guwahati Circle and Aurobindo Das, general manager of AGVD were also present in the event.

While speaking on the occasion of signing MoU, Sabharwal of CHIL said that the Care Health Insurance is a specialized health insurer offering health insurance services to group of employees of corporate, individual customers and for financial inclusion as well. He said The Group Care 360 – Grameen product of the company is specially designed to cater to the health care of rural people.

The programme was coordinated by Ramkrishna Sarma, head of the department, planning and development and chairman's secretariat, of AGVB.
