Guwahati: The water level of the mighty Brahmaputra river in on the rise and flowing above the danger level mark in some areas, following incessant rains in the past few days in parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya.

The water level of the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati has exceeded the danger mark of 49.68 meters.

Sadikul Hoque, Central Water Commission employee said, ''the water level of Brahmaputra is increasing since the past 3-4 days. In Guwahati, the water level has crossed the danger level mark and it is flowing 7 cm above the danger level.''

Meanwhile, Kamrup (Metro) District Administration has suspended all kinds of boats and ferry services in Guwahati and other parts of the district from September 28 till further orders.

Over 3 lakh people from districts like Nagaon, Jorhat, Dhemaji, Biswanath, Majuli, Morigaon, Sivasagar, Kamrup, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh are still affected.

As per the flood report of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) over 1.98 lakh people have been affected in Nagaon district, 36,000 people in Morigaon, 25,000 people in Kamrup, 14,000 people in Dhemaji, 12,500 people in Lakhimpur, 10,600 people in Dibrugarh district.
