Assam Police seized around Rs 50 lakh in Guwahati city

GUWAHATI: In violation of the Model Code of Conduct, the Gorchuk Police on Wednesday seized a total of Rs 45,68,600 from three persons.

The code of conduct bars a person from carrying more than Rs 50,000.

The police said that Rs 8,45,000 was seized from Satyajit Brahma, a resident of Simaluguri Village in Lakhimpur district. Rs 16,25,000 was seized from another person – Bhupen Kr. Barman (42), a resident of Nalbari district. The third seizure of Rs 20,98,600 was made from Mukul Pathak (45), a resident of Gorchuk.

Necessary action as per ECI (Election Commission of India) guidelines has been initiated.

Meanwhile, Jalukbari Police seized Rs 4 lakh from one Pebam Bikananda Singh at Saraighat. Singh is a resident of Imphal.
