ASPTA seeks job contract letter & release of pending DA

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The ASPTA (Assam State Primary Teachers' Association) has urged the authorities concerned to ensure that the contractual teachers get their regular salaries. The organisation also asked the State government to release the pending DA (Dearness Allowance) of the last four years.

These teachers are working under the 'Axom Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission'. Presently, there are 42,824 such teachers in the State.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, ASPTA general secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami pointed out, "We are working under much stress. For example, we didn't get our salary on time during the last four months. Moreover, the salaries for August are yet to be released."

On the DA (Dearness Allowance) issue, Goswami added, "We have been deprived of the 16% DA. During the last four years, it was 5%; however, the government announced an additional 11% DA recently. But, we have not yet got the DA since 2018. Sadly enough, we haven't got our job contract copies from SSA, Assam, till date."
