Awareness Run on Organ Donation by Zublee Foundation

Guwahati: Zublee Foundation is the first Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working for the noble cause of Deceased Organ Donation Awareness in the North-Eastern (NE) Region of India. It is an initiative by Zublee Baruah and was established in the year 2013 Guwahati.

With the successful conduction of various activities Zublee Foundation, this year for the second time organized the run titled ‘Organothon’ for raising mass awareness and encouraging deceased organ donation among the people of Assam on Sunday. The run was flagged off by Prof Vimal Bhandari, Director, National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), Government of India at 6:30 am from Gitanagar High School field. 1000 participants from Assam and North-eastern states took part in the run.

The motive of the run was to reach out to the masses with the concept of deceased organ donation. The event was graced by a good number of dignitaries, including some from the realm of music and films. After the run, Dulal Deka, the father of a deceased who wished to donate his son’s kidneys after his death was felicitated. Similarly, Krishnakhi Das and Prerna Das were also felicitated by Zublee Baruah, chairperson, ZF, for their life saving contribution to their father.

The run was followed by a live show by different artistes from Assam. Songs were performed by Joi Barua, JP Das, Zublee Baruah and Priyanka Dey to entertain and encourage the runners. A mime act on organ donation was also performed by students from Hayat School of Nursing, Guwahati.
