Barthwal Assures Same Day Death Settlements for EPFO

GUWAHATI: A new post of Joint Secretary Equivalent has been created by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Ministry of Labour, Government of India by transferring this post from Head Office of EPFO to Zonal Office, NER, Guwahati temporarily by CPFC, Sunil Barthwal, lAS.

KL Goyal, Additional CPFC (HQ) has been posted as FIRST officer of the above Rank. He is Chartered Accountant and selected by UPSC in 1990 in EPFO and has served in Gujrat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharastra and New Delhi in various cadres. He was the pioneer in setting up of Investment Monitoring Cell in Head Office, EPFO and excellently managed the funds through portfolio mangers of Rs 4 lakh crore (presently around 12 lakh crore) and the rate of interest for EPFO members was declared by 1% over the past 5-6 years by his rich experience. He hails from Rajasthan, Sri Ganga Nagar districts and has been in merit list in academic and professional career.

Recently, newly launched scheme as PMSYM was participated by him in Guwahati on March 5, 2019, though very new to the place, where Chief Minister, and Labour Minister, Assam were Chief Guests. Approximately 11000 subscribers have been enrolled in NER-Zone under the scheme. The subscribers to the scheme has to contribute a sum every month (depending on the age from 18 years to 40 years and the amount ranges from Rs 55 pm to Rs 200 pm and the Central Govt. will make equal contribution with a minimum guarantee of pension Rs 3 000 pm when the member will achieve the age of 60 years) He clarified that scheme will prove a boon for the poorest class of the society for their old age.

He further explained that NER-ZONB-EPF is serving through its 4 Regional Offices, 4 Special State of Offices and 5 District Offices with a total staff of 212 to the 7 states and 20658 establishments and 388164 contributing members and 445828 Accounts. He informed press that his priority will be to settle the death claims within same day and all other claims within a week provided the claims are made complete in all respects. His other priority area will be redressel of grievances of members within 3 days.
