Basistha Police arrested 4 youths for blackmailing a man in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Basistha Police has arrested four youths for allegedly blackmailing a person by threatening him that they will release his photos with a woman in a compromising situation.

The accused are - Moon Ahmed, Abdul Haque, Khairul Hussain and the identity of the fourth person has not been revealed.

According to reports, the youths took the victim to Mother Teresa Road, Hatigaon to show an apartment for a flat. However, they intoxicated him and clicked his objectionable photos with a woman. The accused then started to blackmail the victim by demanding Rs. 2 lakh following which the latter informed the Basistha Police. On March 21, the victim along with the Basistha Police laid a trap to nab the blackmailers by promising them to pay the ransom amount at Khanapara. The gang later arrived to take the ransom amount but after sensing something foul they tried to flee the spot. They were chased down by the police and held in the Ghoramara area. All four accused were handed over to the Hatigaon Police.
