Bharalumukh Police Arrested Chandal of Crematorium For Murder Charge

GUWAHATI: The Bharalumukh Police on Thursday arrested the Chandal of Bhootnath crematorium Bhagirath Sarkar (19) and his accomplish Naba Das (24) on charges of pushing one Ashim Barua (23) into the Brahmaputra River that resulted in his drowning. Barua who originally hailed from Nazir Ali in Jorhat, was working in the city’s Rituraj Hotel for the last one month. According to the police Barua came out from the hotel at 12.30 am on July 9 and made his way to Bhootnath crematorium. He talked to his mother at 3 am on the same day and since then he was missing. Father of Ashim recemtly filed a missing entry with the Bharalumukh police station. During the investigation the police arrested Bhagirath and Naba who confessed of pushing Ashim to the water of Brahmaputra at Bhootnath after a confrontation. After the incident the accused went to Hima Sankar temple at Pamohi. The SDFR personnel on Thursday carried out a search operation to fish out the body of Ashim. But the personnel recovered a highly decomposed body of a lady. The accused were produced before the court here and they were remanded to five-day police custody.
