GUWAHATI, July 15: The BJP Assam Pradesh has said that the corrupt Congress spelt doom for Assam in its 15-year-long rule in the State. Saying that the zero tolerance against corruption of the party-led government at Dispur still stands, the party hailed Dispur for handing the over Barak Valley coal scam to the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI).
In a statement issued to the press on Monday, State BJP spokesperson Manoj Baruah said: “We welcome the State Government’s decision to hand over the coal scam in Barak Valley to the CBI. The coal scam in South Assam has come to light at a time when the BJP-led coalition at Dispur is busy in repairing the State infrastructure that was shattered during the 15-year Congress rule. Dispur has taken up the coal scam seriously. The tough stand taken by the BJP-led government in the State has kept hopes alive that the culprits of the scam won’t be spared. They will be brought to the fore. The summoning of 19 more officers in connection with the cash-for-job scam in the APSC has scaled a new height in the investigation.”
