BJP will destroy the democracy of India: Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: In response to the nationwide protest called by the Congress, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) staged a protest at T.C. Point in Guwahati Club area by raising - Save Democracy, Save Constitution slogans.

Though the Congress decided to stage protest in front of Raj Bhavans across the country to protect the Constitution and democracy, APCC was not permitted to do the same. Hence the protest was staged at Guwahati Club where the activists demanded that BJP must abolish the dirty politics to topple the democratically elected Rajasthan government and must call Assembly session.

APCC president Ripun Bora said that the Congress workers are observing the protest programme against the Anti-Constitutional and anti-democratic activities of BJP-Horse Trading and against misuse of the power of the Governor. Bora alleged, "The BJP government is hatching conspiracy to destabilize the democratically elected Congress governments by violating the constitution and misusing the power of the governor who are meant to protect the constitution."

"After destabilizing elected governments in Uttarakhand, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Manipur by hatching conspiracy, the BJP government is now heading towards Rajasthan with the same conspiracy. The governor in Rajasthan is misusing the power of his designation" Bora added.

Present in the programme, former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi alleged that the BJP government is going to destroy the democracy of India and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed in all aspects and now he is practicing all these diverting activities to cover his failure.

Gogoi said, "As ordered by APCC, we are here to raise our voice to save our constitution. We believe PM Modi will fail in his conspiracy that has been hatched to murder the democracy. Now time has come for all Indian people to rise together against the anti-democratic and anti-constitutional activities of the BJP government.''
