CAB and Clause 6 of Assam Accord are contradictory: AIUDF

GUWAHATI: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has slammed the Government for making dual statements while strongly condemning the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

AIUDF organizational general secretary Aminul Islam, while addressing the media on Saturday said, “At a time when there is much discussion over Clause 6 implementation of the Assam Accord for which a high level committee has been formed, suddenly, talks of CAB implementation turns the table completely.”

“The high level committee speaks about constitutional safeguard of the indigenous people of the State and during such a time, the Government contradicts its own statements through CAB implementation. Clause 6 will ensure that all the indigenous people are provided safeguard. So, the foreigners who are spread the red carpet, will also be in trouble because after implementation of Clause 6, these people will never be able to survive in the State,” said Islam.
