Cattle Smuggling Case Comes to Light in Chandrapur Area

GUWAHATI: A cattle smuggling case has come to light in the Chandrapur area on Sunday night. According to police sources, seven cattle were taken from Darrang district on a machine boat via the Brahmaputra and left them at a sar near Chandrapur on Saturday. In the evening of Sunday, five persons went to the sar to take the cattle. On suspicion, the local people started to interrogate the five. While four of the five fled the scene, one of them plunged into the river only to be caught by the locals. He has been identified as Sabed Ali hailing from Sipajhar. He was handed over to the Pragjyotishpur police station. A case (235/19 u/s 379) has been registered in this connection.
