CBI Team Interrogates GMDA Officials over Multi-Crore Louis Berger Scam

Guwahati: In a major development to the Multi Crore Louis Berger Scam, a six-member CBI team led by Superintendent of Police, Rajiv Ranjan on Thursday reached out to the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office in connection with the scam.

It is believed that the CBI from New Delhi would question two of the GMDA officials identified as Parag Moni and Rupak Mazumdar.

Swaraj Asom Convener and RTI activist Bhaben Handique earlier informed media that the CBI team has reached into the city to probe into the multi-crore scam.

It is to be noted that this will be second visit of a CBI team in the State to investigate into the scam. CBI team had earlier visited Assam on October 12, 2017, and took statements of the petitioners (who filed a case in Dispur PS) including a Government official, who filed a case with the CID regarding the scam.

Earlier on Wednesday, Speaking before the media, Handique said that he had submitted the hard copies of the collected documents in connection with the case from the US Department of Justice and FBI to SP Rajiv Ranjan and the Investigative Officers of the team.

Bhaben had also submitted the same documents to the CBI through an email in June last, however, no progress was seen in the case thereafter.
