GUWAHATI: Putting their statement on the recent report regarding the recommendations of the Finance Ministry of Government of India for the closure of BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Limited), the BSNL Assam circle declared the report as baseless and untrue.

Requesting their customers, public including media persons not to pay attention to such rumors, chief general manager, BSNL Assam Sandeep Govil said, “No statement was made by the Central and State government for closure of Bharat Sanchar Limited. Instead, there is a plan under active consideration for revival of BSNL by government of India by giving suitable package in terms of VRS/4G spectrum and allowing monetization of assets available with BSNL. No doubt there is some financial crisis, but we will overcome it with the help of the government and emerge victorious.”

Govil also mentioned about BSNL Customer Service Centers being designated as AADHAAR SEVA KENDRA by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for AADHAAR enrollment services at a total of 36 Customer Service Centers. He said, “BSNL’s market share is improving day by day. It is providing various services to a different category of customers including strategically important defense sector. BSNL will always be with our esteemed customers and continue to serve the nation especially during difficult times of natural calamities. It will be better in the future with affordable rates throughout India, even in remote places.”

Bharat Sanchar Limited, Assam Circle also stated that Bharat Sanchar Limited has already launched 4G services in Assam in some locations and is going to launch in other areas too in a phased manner and that BSNL never indulges in tricking the customers with promises of free services like some other operators. The BSNL Assam circle also presented the details of the various newly introduced services that includes a plan of Rs 1699 for the festival seasons with unlimited calls on any network, 100 SMS per day with 2 GB data per day for 455 days and that Bharat Sanchar Limited will never ask for additional charges.
