CM Sarbananda Sonowal condoles demise of folk artist Manmath Baishya

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed grief over the demise of reknown lyricist, music composer and folk artist Manmath Baishya.

Late Baishya's contribution to the Assamese culture and society will be cherished by everyone, said CM Sonowal.

The CM hoped for eternal peace of the departed soul.

Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also condoled the demise of late Baishya.

In a condolence statement, the Minister said, 'Manmath Baishya was a well-known lyricist, singer and an exponent of Assamese folk music. His works are appreciated by music lovers and cultural critics. His demise is an irreparable loss to the cultural milieu of the State'.
