CM Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates Silk Yarn Bank at Sualkuchi

GUWAHATI, Sept 14: “When reference of Sualkuchi is made, we are reminded of the saying of Mahatma Gandhi who once said the weavers of Assam weave dreams in their looms. Weavers are the symbols of our skill”. For the development of State’s economy, rural economy has to be strengthened. Observed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while speaking at inauguration of a Silk Yarn Bank at Sualkuchi and laying the foundation stone of multi disciplinary sports complex at Sualkuchi in Kamrup today, a Government communiqué stated.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that ever since Narendra Modi led government has come to power, Central Government has taken several schemes to facilitate welfare of the people of the country. The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan enunciated by the Prime Minister made an epoch making impression of the country towards the foreign countries. This is not just a scheme, it has become people’s movement. This is an effort towards transforming the country a\in sync with the dream of Mahatma Gandhi. He also said that under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana, 32 crore people were brought into banking services by bring them into financial inclusion. Even State government is also working to bring in cleanliness in the governance and started an uncompromising tirade against corruption. Sonowal said that transparency was brought even in employment sector and 50 thousand educated youths have been recruited as per their merits in government jobs.

Presently under Atal Amrit Abhiyan, treatment has been made possible for the people whose annual income is below Rs. 5 lakh for five critical illnesses.

Assam is a home of immense hidden talents and as a result of investment in rural sports infrastructure, many promising players from rural Assam are emerging. Multi disciplinary sports complex at Sualkuchi is an attempt to utilize the sporting potential of Sulakuchi area in the district.

Chief Minister Sonowal also said under State Capital Region, Sulakuchi will be brought within the jurisdiction of Guwahati city. He also appealed to the people of Sualkuchi to render constructive criticism and help the government to work on its mistakes, the release added.
