Congress decentralized corruption, says BJP

GUWAHATI: The BJP has said that the Congress in Assam did go for decentralization of corruption at the panchayat level on the pretext of decentralization of power when the party ruled the State.

In a statement, State BJP spokesperson Manoj Baurah said: “The panchayati raj institution is indispensible for all-round development of people of any State. Through panchayats there is enough scope for the decentralization of power at the grassroots level in the State. However, during the Congress rule in the State, the panchayat representatives of the Congress literally decentralized corruption while implementing schemes instead of decentralization of power. In such a backdrop, making the Panchayat Raj System a well-organized setup is very important. The BJP is committed to make the Panchayati Raj System transparent and free from corruption so as to make gram swaraj a reality.”

Meanwhile, following the decision taken by the party on Friday the State BJP appointed as many as 110 LAC in-charges for the forthcoming panchayat poll in the State.
