COVID-19: Laboratory technicians for isolation booths

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI,: The All Assam Medical Laboratory Technicians' Association (AAMLTA), on Saturday, demanded isolation booths in every testing centre to conduct swab tests. It is to be mentioned that, as many as 6 lab technicians have been tested positive for COVID-19 across the State.

In this regard, AAMLTA president Fakaruddin Ahmed stated, "People think that lab technicians are testing positive because of not following preventive measures. However, these people should know that lab technicians are working at the forefront. They are the ones who first conduct the tests to find out whether a person is COVID-19 positive or negative."

Ahmed said there was a shortage of safety equipments in the past, but there is no shortage of supply now. "It is concerning that the positive cases are rising despite the government having sufficient safety equipments to tackle the crisis," he pointed out.
