Crime Branch of Guwahati Police registers case against Sharjeel Imam

GUWAHATI: The Crime Branch of Guwahati Police has registered a case against Sharjeel Imam, one of the leaders of the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protests at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi, for his provocative statement regarding Assam in a TV channel. He said, ‘Agitate and cut off the chicken-neck corridor to isolate Assam from India.” Imam has allegedly given the inflammatory statement during a demonstration at Shaheen Bagh. He has been booked under case number 01/2020 under section 121 (a)/ 124 (a)/ 153 (a)/153 (b) IPC and 13 (I)/15 (a) (iii) / 18 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
