Crime Branch recovers suspected brown sugar in Guwahati city

Guwahati: Crime Branch Guwahati on Tuesday seized suspected brown sugar from an area near the Marwari Hospital in Athgaon.

A raid, based on secret intelligence, was conducted today morning by Crime Branch Guwahati in front of Marwari Hospital under Bharalumukh Police Station. In the raid, 13 grams (one pack) of narcotics, suspected to be brown sugar was seized. Two accused, namely Tosur Ali and Mojina Khatun, have been apprehended, and a vehicle bearing registration number AS 01EJ 3192 has also been seized.

Upon being led by the accused Tosur Ali, a raid was also conducted at Nizarapar in Kotahbari and several recoveries were made. Apart from the suspected 13 grams of brown sugar, suspected brown sugar CC-19, Rs 59,500 in cash, and jewelry were also seized.

Similarly, a consignment of drugs was also recovered in the Morigaon district. Late at night on Monday, police conducted a search in the house of one Tafatjal Ahmed of Tumukabari village and recovered 45 small plastic containers containing suspected heroin and two plastic packets containing the same, weighing in at 83.29 gms.

The suspected drugs were seized from the house and were kept concealed in a damaged electrical rice cooker. During the search, police also recovered Rs 51,820 and two bikes, two mobile phones from the possession of Abdul Bahar of Balijan. All the accused persons are being arrested. An investigation is currently going on under observance of all the formalities of NDPS Act.
