Ratnakar falls prey to piracy

GUWAHATI: Ratnakar, the latest Assamese film that has created a sensation across the State has fallen into the web of piracy. Someone had allegedly recorded the movie and release it at YouTube. Veteran actor and lead actor in the movie, Jatin Bora has lodged a case (458/19 IPC, IP Act 66 & Copyright Act 63 & 65) at Geetanagar police station.

Thief arrested

GUWAHATI: The city had a sudden spurt in loot cases and inspite of various actions taken to curb the menace, no visible difference has been observed. The most recent incident occurred on Thursday when three miscreants tried to loot a man of his possession of rupees one lakh at Paltanbazar. As they fled, one of the looters was caught by the public and handed over to Paltanbazar police station. The miscreant has been identified as Anand Barma and a case (1204/19 IPC 392) has been registered against him.

Thief escapes from custody

GUWAHATI: Five prisoners from Goalpara were taken to GMCH when one, identified as Luhit Changma, managed to flee. Changma was a thief, who was caught by police personnel on Thursday. Even though the police chased after him, he managed to run away and disappear among the crowd.

GRP apprehends drug peddler

GUWAHATI: Government Railway Police (GRP) caught a drug peddler identified as Susen Debnath, S/O late Satyendra Debnath of New Subhagong Nunai, Alipurduar. Six bundles of narcotic drugs, 4320 number of (SPSP HEN) tablets were recovered from his possession at New Bongaigaon Railway Station on Friday.

Body found

GUWAHATI: An unknown body was found at Lalunggaon Chowk under Gorchuck police station at 11:45 am on Thursday. The deceased is about 60 years old and approximately 5feet 2inch in height, swarthy complexion, medium length hair with white beard wearing green colour sweater and light blue track pants. The body was sent to GMCH for postmortem and will be kept for 72 hours.

Drug peddler caught

GUWAHATI: Bharalumukh police arrested a drug peddler, Horen Barman from Kamakhya Gate on Friday. 1.25 gram of suspected brown sugar and cash of Rs 1300 have been recovered from his possession.
