GUWAHATI: Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu chaired a meeting regarding the spread of COVID-19 in truck parking areas.

In the meeting, measures were discussed in respect of truck parking lots, weighbridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, local transporter (distributors) commercial establishments involving employees, labour arrangement. The Deputy Commissioner said that the trucks carrying essential commodities and other goods from the different areas to Guwahati, and there is possibility of direct contact of drivers/handymen with the employees and labourers of the parking lots, weighbridge, BG Yard, etc.

Following the discussion certain decisions were taken. Social distancing should be strictly maintained at parking lots, weighbridge, BG Yard, Noonmati, commercial establishment involving employees, labour etc.

Entry and Exit points should be strictly maintained with proper entry in the register by the owners of the aforementioned places.

The owners will facilitate for accommodation of the drivers/handymen in the premises separately and also facilitate for providing essential commodities to them during the stay period. All the owners will have to submit the list of employees as well as the list of names of drivers/handymen (local transporter) to the Kamrup (M) Additional Deputy Commissioner Bipul Kumar Das by Sunday. The owners were also directed to display hoardings on their respective premises mentioning Do's and Don'ts on COVID-19.
