GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal paid last respect to the mortal remains of Indian Army jawan Hardhan Chandra Roy at the Army Base Hospital, Basistha in Guwahati today. The Chief Minister laid a wreath at the mortal remains of the martyr and paid deep tribute.

Jawan Hardhan Chandra Roy who embraced martyrdom in the Uri sector in Jammu & Kashmir along the Indo-Pakistan border due to the heavy shelling by the Pakistani Army across LOC. Later talking to media persons Chief Minister Sonowal said that martyr Hardhan Chandra Roy made supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation and thereby set a glowing example of patriotism and velour. He would remain immortal and his sacrifices would keep inspiring the young generation.

The Chief Minister also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. He also informed that the government of Assam would provide financial assistance of Rs.20 lakh to the next of kin of the martyr in honour of his supreme sacrifice, stated a release.
