Educationist Dr. Ranjit Deka joins Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)

GUWAHATI: Educationist Dr Ranjit Deka joined the AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) at the party office here on Wednesday.

AGP president Atul Bora, working president Keshab Mahanta, senior leader Phani Bhushan Choudhury, general secretary Kamala Kanta Kalita among others were present at the meeting to welcome Deka.

In his address, Deka expressed his gratitude to all the persons who accompanied him to the joining ceremony. "I have been supporting the AGP since my student years. I will work as the party advises me," said Deka. "We believe the AGP will grow stronger after Ranjit Deka's joining. As a few months are left for the 2021 elections, all of us will have to work with sincerity and each and every member of the party will have to work as soldiers," said Atul Bora.

Further, Bora asserted that though the party has seen ups and downs in the last few years but it never stopped working hard.

"It is my belief that the people of Assam have affection towards the AGP party. We will have to keep the wrong things out of our way and work towards good things. AGP is a party which has always been working for the people of Assam," Bora added.

Keshab Mahanta said, "AGP is associated with a specific community which cannot be erased. There were various ups and down witnessed within the party but we have fought hard. There is always a win or lose situation in politics. We are happy to welcome a person like Ranjit Deka to the party. He is known for his works in the education sector. He has his own distinct identity in the education field."
