GUWAHATI: The Directorate Of Food, Civil Supplies Department, Assam launched an inspection drive at Beltola Bazar on November 25.

As per the last notice regarding the hike prices of vegetables, the authority released a notice mentioning there will be a task force to monitor the market prices of vegetables, including potato and onion every day. There will be allotted representatives for all the areas of Guwahati.

The food and civil supplies department has also fixed the rate of vegetables, onion and potatoes. "No fines have been imposed on the vegetable vendors today. We have inspected the quality and price of the vegetables and also fixed the prices of some items. If we found any discrepancies, we will take action against them from tomorrow," said an official of the department.

Onion at Rs. 45, potato at Rs. 25, cauliflower, cabbage at Rs. 30, tomato at Rs. 60 at Beltola Bazar in Guwahati, decided by the Food and Civil department.

As instructed before, every vendor is asked to put on a price board of the items and it is been strictly informed that if any vendors charge high rates than the fixed amount, they have to pay a heavy penalty, or even the authority might cancel the trade license.
