GUWAHATI: General Rajesh Kumar Jha, who was serving with the Strategic Force Command, recently took over as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 51st Sub Area at Narengi. A paratrooper and a thoroughbred professional, the General was commissioned into the Bombay Sappers in December, 1985. He has had extensive experience in planning, formulating and execution of military matters both at operational and strategic level. He commanded a Mountain Brigade and a Mountain Division in the North-East.

An alumnus of Sherwood College, Nainital, NDA and IMA, he was also the Defence & Military Adviser at High Commission of India, United Kingdom. During his illustrious service, amongst many awards and accolades, the General has also been awarded Ati Vishist Seva Medal. The General has been keenly involved in ensuring that the ex-Servicemen community of the North-East is well looked after, stated a Defence communiqué.

His spouse, Anupama Jha is a homemaker and as an effective member of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), she has been at the forefront in all activities concerned with the welfare of Veer Naris. General and Mrs Jha, apart from their two children who are well settled, have also adopted two girls from Arunachal Pradesh.
