General secretary of AAU Dr. Hiten Krishna Mahanta passes away in Kolkata

GUWAHATI: Dr. Hiten Krishna Mahanta passed away at a private hospital in Kolkata on February 19. He was 57 years old. His body was brought to his residence in Santipur on Friday and was cremated at the Bhootnath Cemetery. Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, local MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, AASU chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya and vice-president Bipul Rabha paid their tributes at the ceremony. Dr. Hiten Krishna Mahanta was an active member of the Assam Agitation and was also the general secretary of Assam Agricultural University.
