Guwahati: App Based Taxi Bike Riders To Get Uniforms Soon

Guwahati: The Kamrup Metro District Transport Enforcement branch has announced that the app-based taxi bike service riders will have uniforms from now onwards.

The decision was taken after a meeting that was held with the DC Kamrup metro, Pallav Gopal Jha on June 1, where Cab Service Providers and Cab Association were present.

" From June 15, PeIndia bike riders will be given uniforms while Rapido has assured DTO that they will start a uniform dress code for their riders from June 20. Apart from these, both Ola bike and Uber motto will start operating with new uniforms starting June 25," Himangshu Das, DTO enforcement said on Monday.

The cab drivers will also get uniforms in the coming days but as of now, the regulation has been started with only the bike riders.

He also said that the decision has been taken so that it's easier to sort out bike app professionals from a citizen and in identifying with which companies the riders are employed.

Das also informed that strict actions have been taken against the unruly drivers and the complaints that were received from customers.

"We suspend drivers from all apps and take him off-duty after we conduct a hearing. We have even arrested drivers who had complaints filed against them," he added.
