Guwahati Crime Branch seized Rs 74 lakh from Kalachini apartment in Solapara

GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off about the presence of narcotropic substances, Guwahati Crime Branch conducted an operation on 4th floor, Kalachini apartment, Solapara on Tuesday. During the search operation on the residence of Sangita Laishangbam, unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 74,05,600 was recovered. The police suspect that the amount would have been utilized in financing of illicit traffic of narcotropic substances.

In this regard, the police has arrested three persons - Sangita Laishangbam (55), Sam Laithangbam (53) and Thangkhosat (32). All three accused are residents of Manipur.

Accused Sangita Laishanbam was earlier arrested in Basistha PS case no 449/19; U/S- 22 NDPS act where she was found in possession of narcotropic substance.

Further, she was constantly in touch with known drug peddlers, and was suspected to be supplying drugs to one Tashur Ali who was arrested in Bharalumukh PS case no 315/2020; U/S _ 22 (B) NDPS act.
