GUWAHATI: As soon as the State government enforced lockdown on Tuesday at 6 PM, the administration became vigilant. The city police officials kept everything under surveillance and punished anyone who came out to the streets without any essential reason. The people were punished by the police for flouting lockdown guidelines. In most of the areas in the city like ABC, Bhangagarh, and Rajgarh the police made the violators do squat holding their ears and admitting their mistake. In the ABC area, the traffic personals stopped the two-wheelers as well as cars asking them their reason to come out. The traffic personals further asked the violators to get off their bikes and ordered them to do squat by holding their ears. The police officials urged everyone to wear masks or cover their mouths with clothes. According to sources, the police officials will start prosecuting the violators, if people continue to violate the nationwide lockdown.
