Guwahati: Guwahati city, Assam's worst-hit when it comes to the number of COVID-19 infections, has registered 238 more virus cases on Thursday, July 3.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on Twitter, "479 new #COVID19+ cases detected today. Out of these, 238 cases were reported from Guwahati City alone. Request people to take proper precautions."

With the detection of these fresh cases, the tally in Assam is inching towards the 10,000 case mark. The state has so far registered 9,434 cases, out of which 3,311 cases are active. Due to COVID-19 related complications, 14 people in Assam have succumbed to death so far.
Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 tally touched 6,25,544 with the biggest single-day increase of 20,903 cases, while the death count rose to 18,213, the latest data from the Union Health Ministry shows. The number of recoveries stands at 3,79,892, while the recovery rate has improved to 60.72 percent.
