Guwahati: Rwisumwi Basumatary, a woman police personnel of Panbazar Traffic found herself thrust into the limelight on Tuesday after she was instrumental in returning a large amount of money as well as some important documents. Needless to say, her work has earned her the plaudits of citizens, who have lavished her with praise for her "good samaritan" act.

According to a tweet that was sent out from the official Twitter handle of the Guwahati Police, the woman found a wallet lying on HB Road with cash amounting to Rs. 20,500 and important documents. Subsequently, she found the phone number of the owner and informed him that his belongings had been found. Soon after, the aforementioned items were returned to the graturful citizen.

"Commendable work performed by Basumatary Madam. Appreciate her dedication towards service. Retweeting this to take notice to this Nation about this commendable work of Assam police," said a Twitter user, while another wrote, "Such a wonderful Work! Hats off to entire Police Fraternity.
