GVK (EMRI) Itself Sick & Down, Seeks Cooperation

GUWAHATI, Sept 7: Following the indefinite strike launched by the All Assam Mrityunjoy 108 Employees Association since September 5, emergency service provider GVK (EMRI) is facing a critical condition in its operation.

Talking to the reporters here on Thursday, GVK (EMRI) vice president Sanjay Jha said, “We have recruited 30 EROs yesterday and will be filling the capacity by today and tomorrow. We have placed 78 pilots and EMT in operation and they will resume duty by today. Hiring process for EMT and Pilot has been initiated and will be completed soon.”

Jha further said, “Employees’ union are threatening our operation team and trying to disturb our operation. Since ESMA is evoked in many district and it will be handle by a local district administration.”

Stating that the matter is also under conciliation with labour office and prejudice with office of Labour Commissioner and strike carried out by employee association is illegal, Jha said, “108 Mrityujnoy emergency service is an essential service to the people of Assam and hence protected under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). Hence, we request to the people of Assam for their support cooperation in this critical situation. We are committed to providing the best quality services to the people in the state of Assam always and highly oblige for the support received from the people of Assam.”
