I would continue protest against CAA: Zubeen Garg

Zubeen Garg said, "We protested day and night. Some of our youths were martyred during the CAA movement. So we would not let go so easily. If CAA is implemented in the State, I will come out to protest against it again. I would continue to fight and protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act."

He further said that "if we cannot come out to the road because of the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, we will protest differently but we would not stop."

Zubeen Garg in the context of singing songs for the election said that he would not be performing or singing songs for any political party ahead of the Assam elections next year.

Sharing his plans about his future projects, Garg said work for the next new Assamese film, 'Dustbin' would begin in February.

CAA protests are on in the state.

Earlier this year in November over 20 organizations including Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti have staged an Anti-CAA protest in Khowang chariali in Moran demanding the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act and immediate release for the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi, Debangana Kalita along with other CAA protesters as soon as possible with no condition.

In October 2020, JP Nadda, Bharatiya Janata Party National President said that the Citizenship Amendment Act will be implemented 'very soon'. It has been delayed due to the pandemic.

In August 2020, the Home Ministry told a parliamentary standing committee that it would take three more months to determine the rules of the Citizenship Amendment Act. Despite having being passed last year, the implementation of the CAA is being held back due to the lack of rules.
