GUWAHATI: In the run-up to the Independence Day celebration, the latest buzzword is 'minimum' – minimum gathering and minimum programmes – to celebrate the I-Day at Judges' Field here.

Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu has requested all departments to make everything ready at Judges' Field in the city by August 13 for smooth celebration of the Independence Day. The DC did distribute works to different departments for smooth celebration of the day.

Police and paramilitary forces have been doing their regular parade and exercise at Judges' Field. All COVID rules and regulations like wearing mask and maintaining social distancing will be adhered to while celebrating the day.

This time around, the entire stage, chairs, tables and other materials to be used at the celebrations will have to be sanitized, besides thermal scanning to each and every visitor to the field. Each gate to the field will have sanitization facilities.

At 9 am Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will hoist the National Flag at Judges' Field. The National Flag will also be hoisted in all government offices and bhawans. It will be followed by parade by police and paramilitary forces.
