GUWAHATI: The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC)

Assam branch on Wednesday staged a protest at Paltan Bazar against the new farm bills, and privatization of PSUs among other issues.

The INTUC also demanded withdrawal of amendments in the labourers law. The protest was led by INTUC Assam branch president Hiranya Bora. Around 50 members of the union demonstrated following the COVID protocol and said if the new farm bills are not withdrawn then they will stage protests on a large scale.

Meanwhile, Krishak Sramik Unnanyan Parisad, Axom also expressed their resentment against the new bills. President of the Parisad, Pradip Kalita said that the agricultural fields of Assam have batted the eye of the capitalists. "The three new bills passed by the Centre will push the farmers towards the path of destruction. Along with farmers form rest of the country, the farmers of Assam will lose the rights of their produce," Kalita opined. He appealed to all the farmers of the country to protest against the bill.
