GUWAHATI: "After the indigenous Muslims were deprived by the Congress in 2016, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) promised us that they will give us political recognition during their regime. However, till date they have failed to keep their promises," said All Assam Goria-Moria Yuva-Chatra Parisad (AAGMYCP) general secretary Moinul Haque while addressing the media here on Wednesday.

Haque said, "There is not a single candidate from our community in the candidate lists released by the BJP, AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) and the Congress for the first and second phases of the polls. We appeal to all the political parties to give tickets to the indigenous Muslims in the third phase."

Further, AAGMYCP underlined that indigenous Muslims who comprise 14 per cent of the total voters in the State have now seen the true colours of the political parties.

"If candidates from our community are deprived of tickets in the third phase then it won't augur well for Assam," Haque added.

Lastly, the AAGMYCP appealed to the AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) to give the ticket of Chenga constituency to Nurul Hussain.
