GUWAHATI: The elder son of Dharani Deka, the prime accused in the Japorigog murder case, told the police on Monday that he came to know of the incident only when his father told him about it.

He said that he was asleep when his father came and woke him up. He said that Dharani Deka said that he had murdered the landlord and asked him to leave the house without delay.

According to police sources, Deka's son made this statement after he was summoned again today for questioning.

According to the son, Deka had killed the landlord, Hemdhar Baruah, for allegedly sexually assaulting his wife.

He told the police that his father told him that the landlord had sexually assaulted his mother. While the younger son was at school at that time, Deka told his elder son to go to his aunt's house in Ganeshguri. The elder son further said that while Deka had given him Rs 2,000, his aunt gave him another Rs 500 and he then went to his uncle's house in Adabari. Finally, the elder son went to their ancestral home in Nalbari.
