Leopard killed by locals villagers of Katahbari area

GUWAHATI: The villagers of Katahbari area allegedly killed a leopard on Sunday morning. According to reports, the leopard was terrorizing the area by preying domestic animals. The animal fell into a trap created by Soilem Bodo, a resident of the area on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, after the arrival of the forest officials to capture the animal, villagers came out in numbers to catch a glimpse of the wild cat. Due to the mass gathering, the leopard panicked and tried to flee the spot by tearing the trap which was made with rope. While trying to escape the animal injured a 7-year-old boy following which it was beaten to death by the villagers. In this regard, as many as 6 people have been apprehended by the Gorchuk Police and an FIR has been lodged by the Forest Department.
